Nick initially didn't know that Jay Gatsby was in love with Daisy, his cousin.He was in love for years with Daisy Buchanan, who lived a luxurious and lavish life with her wealthy, Tom Buchanan.
Dan Cody was Jay's mentor when he was a young boy. He taught him to turn his dreams into reality. He taught him to lead an adventurous life and how to climb up the social ladder.
Jay was in love with Daisy but he couldn't support her financially when they met. Gatsby became friends with Nick, and it was through their friendship that he met Daisy again five years after they first met.
Gatsby discovered that Mrs. Daisy's marriage was in trouble after spending time with her. Gatsby was determined to show Mrs. Daisy the luxurious life she had always enjoyed. She runs over Myrtle while driving the car of Mr. Gatsby! George's wife, and the woman in Tom's affair. George believes Mr. Gatsby is responsible and shoots Gatsby then kills himself.
